Frequently Asked Questions

  • What will I learn?

You will learn how to use your voice, move on stage, devise and improvise. You will explore characterisation, scripts, and plays and work as part of a team. You will build self esteem, become a confident communicator and build a foundation in acting for stage and screen.

  • What are the age ranges?

Our group workshops cater for ages: 11-14 years and 14-18 years. We also provide one on one tuition for children and adults wishing to work on speech, presentation and audition technique for stage and screen.

  • How are the workshops run?

There will, wherever possible, be two tutors. One will be the lead tutor while the second is in charge of pastoral care and support. The workshops have been carefully planned with a clear objective and lead to a showcase or screen viewing at the end of each semester.

  • Can I trial a workshop?

Yes you can. We offer free, no obligation, trial workshops. However we cannot guarantee a place if the workshop has reached its capacity. We have a maximum of 15 participants in each workshop.

  • Is there a performance in the theatre?

We run a showcase at the end of each semester and where possible it will be held in the theatre. The use of the main auditorium is dependent on the Theatre's current production. When not in the theatre, we are able to use the spacious rehearsal hall or foyer.

  • Can I join part way through a term?

This depends on a number of things. If the workshop for that term is heavily reliant on scene partners and preparation, it will be necessary to join at the beginning of the term. However, sometimes it is possible to join a week or two into the term but only if the course content and numbers allow. Please contact us if the term has just begun.

  • How long are the workshops?

90 minutes. However, when we are putting on a show in the theatre, the last two workshops may be 3 hours long. You will be given notice at the beginning of the term if this is the case.

  • What do I wear?

Comfortable clothing that you can move around in easily and comfortable footwear. No slip-ons, high heels or jandals. Sneakers are ideal.

  • Can we stay to watch a workshop?
